Soil erosion continues to be a major concern for soils around the world. Canada has widely adopted practices that reduce soil erosion, such as reduced tillage, continuous cropping, and cover crops.
The soil erosion risk indicator estimates probable soil loss due to wind and water and tillage erosion. The indicator is based on soil, topography, land use and climate data, as well as previous and current crop type, from which erosion elements are calculated. The participant will be able to compare their results to averages for their province, ecozone, and ecodistrict.
